Locals 480 and 9705 Bargaining Committees met Thursday, June 29th, for mediation with the Company and mediator Vince Ready. In these talks the Company presented the exact same offer that was given to the Union on June 6th. This is the offer that the Bargaining Committees presented to the membership in our meetings on June 13th, from which you gave us a 99% strike mandate.
Your Bargaining Committees responded with a counter offer clearly demonstrating to the Company that our goal was to negotiate a fair and equitable settlement. The Company outright rejected our counter offer and refused to move off of their initial proposal in any way.
Vince Ready met with both parties and concluded that we were at an impasse due to the Companies unwillingness to negotiate. So, at this time he proposed to write up recommendations for a settlement which he will provide to both parties. The Company and the Union have committed to bring the Mediator’s recommendations to the Membership and the Company’s Board of Directors for a vote.
During this time, as we wait for Vince Ready’s recommendations, we are asking for your continued support and solidarity.
